Sovereignty |

I support the sovereignty of the state of Missouri, as outlined in the US Constitution, the Missouri Constitution, and the Congressional Act of Admission that created the state of Missouri. Let me quote you a piece from each of these documents so you understand what I mean.
This all seems very clear to me. The 9th and 10th Amendments to the US Constitution clearly say that unless a power is expressly granted to the federal government, it is retained by the states or the people. The Missouri Constitution very clearly states that we are a free and independent state, and when Congress authorized the Missouri Territory to form a new state, it very explicitly stated that the new state would have all the same rights and privileges as the original 13 colonies. It seems to me that there are a lot of people in Washington DC that don’t understand that. If elected to Congress, the first question I’m going to ask about every piece of legislation is “Where does the Constitution grant the federal government the power to do this?” If that question cannot be answered, I will vote no.
